We continue to express our deep sorrow following the unfolding, tragic discoveries of children’s remains at the sites of former residential schools in Kamloops BC, Cowessess First Nation SK, and others yet uncovered. To all families directly and indirectly affected, we are thinking of you and stand with you as you mourn for the children whose lives were taken from you.
After careful consideration and following the direction of Indigenous leadership, we will be observing July 1st differently this year. Our flags will be lowered and we have designated this as a day of mourning to commemorate, honour and reflect on the lives of the children who never came home.
