Ingredients

This is a sweet and salty snack mix with a kick. It is perfect to take to munch on when going out on the land.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups small, square-shaped cereal (like plain Shreddies, Life cereal, plain Shredded Wheat)
  • 4 cups popped popcorn
  • 2 cups crackers (like Triscuit, Wheat Thins, Gold Fish)
  • 2 cups pretzels
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup Franks Red Hot sauce or any similar hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups nuts or seeds, any type
  • 1 cup raisins or cranberries

Directions for Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the first 4 ingredients.
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the butter and the hot sauce.
  4. Stir the melted butter sauce into the cereal mixture until well-coated.
  5. Spread onto the baking sheets. Sprinkle with the sugar. Bake for about an hour.
  6. Once cooled, stir in the nuts/seeds and dried fruit. Store in an airtight container.
