Main Course: Simple Steak Marinade

Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 grams) or ½ kilogram sirloin steak, cut into four pieces
- 2 tablespoons vinegar, any type but red wine vinegar works best
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce or BBQ sauce
- ½ teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon combination of dried herbs like Italian seasoning, parsley, basil
Directions for Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except for the steak
- Coat each piece of steak in the marinade. Leave the steak in the bowl
- Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 2 hours
- On a heated grill or pan, cook the steak to the desired level of tenderness
- Remove from the heat, cover with foil and let rest 5 minutes before eating
With only a few minutes between rare and well-done, timing is key to make the perfect steak. For a 2 cm, thick steak cook each side: Blue: About 1 minute, Rare: About 1 ½minutes, Medium-rare: About 2 minutes, Medium: About 2 ¼ minutes, Well done: 4-5 minutes.
